This is a guest post from Marcus Reid,  ISV Partner Manager of Oracle Ireland.  Marcus worked extensively with Irish software companies as part of Ireland at Oracle OpenWorld 2011.  We’ve had very good client feedback (video) about  OpenWorld last year, and Oracle Ireland are trying a new direct approach to the show in 2012.

Oracle OpenWorld is the largest industry conference in the world with more than 50,000 attendees and more than 5,000 partners.

I would like you to be a part of the conversation in our first ever Oracle PartnerNetwork Exchange @ OpenWorld. The Exchange will bring together leaders in all industries from around the globe. You will have the chance to network with fellow partners and Oracle employees, share case studies, participate in onsite certification testing, and learn more about how to leverage your Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) membership to accelerate your business strategies. This event will include visionary keynote speakers and more than 35+ sessions of targeted partner content.

Conference Pass Type Early Bird (March 31 – August 31, 2012) Pre-Registration (Sept. 01 – Sept. 28, 2012) Onsite (Sept. 29 – Oct. 4, 2012)
OPN Exchange @ OpenWorld $595 $795 $995

From my experience, I think companies get two main benefits from coming to OpenWorld

1. Business Development

  • Attending Oracle Openworld provides an opportunity to network with customers/partners/players in your industry. Type in your industry here and see all related sessions at Openworld.
  • The Irish ISV team are also happy to set up one to one meetings with Oracle executives from the Oracle Business Unit that covers your industry vertical.   This will enable you to understand Oracles solution footprint in your industry and ideally how you can play alongside/partner that footprint.
  • There will also be a series of networking events that attending Irish software companies will be invited to.
  • The goal of OPN Exchange is to provide ISV’s with tools to differentiate themselves, be recognized by Oracle, and preferred by customers.

2. Technology

Oracle OpenWorld goes deep and wide with Oracle technology, providing thousands of sessions and hundreds of demos geared toward helping your company get better results with the technology it has—and plan strategically for the technology it will need to keep ahead of the competition in the years to come. http://www.oracle.com/openworld/learn/index.html

Sample sessions exclusive to the OPN Exchange program include:

  • Strategies for Transformational Projects & Alternative License Approaches
  • Java Application Performance for Exalogic
  • Opportunities in Oracle’s Utilities with Machine2Machine

More sessions can be viewd at the OPN Exchange @ OpenWorld Content Catalogue.

With 13 companies travelling to be on the Enterprise Ireland Stand at Microsoft WorldWide Partner conference (and several more attending the event), it’s already time to start our planning for the Irish Software and Service Companies going to Oracle OpenWorld  October 2nd to 6th.

Oracle OpenWorld Logo

Thanks to Oracle Ireland for their support of EI companies. Details of the exact format are still to be finalized but will be announced here on BestConnected.  Can’t wait that long? Register your interest here (and yes, we’re keeping track of everybody that’s already notified us of their interest).

Enterprise Ireland (EI), as part of it’s ‘Best Connected’ software strategy, is working with Irish Software & Service companies and key multinationals to increase exports and export led jobs.

We’re looking for expressions of interest in attending (and help shape EI’s involvement) at the following events.

Interested in coming along? Fill out this expression of interest, or fill out the form at the bottom of this email, or contact us directly at BestConnected@Enterprise-Ireland.com .

We’re still working with the partner multinationals to get the best representation possible at the events . Your expression of interest will help shape the EI involvement, but doesn’t guarantee your place – we’ll let you know when the formal event invites come out.

A world first announced by an Irish software company today: iQuate‘s software inventory tool, iQSonar, is the first third-party tool to be verified by Oracle’s License Management Services (LMS) group. The tool automates the process of uncovering all information on installation and usage of Oracle database software, options and management packs across physical and virtual/partitioned Unix and Windows platforms in complex IT networks, establishing an accurate inventory of Oracle software in use.

iQuate Logo

This ensures that you only pay for software in use and don’t unintentionally use software you haven’t paid for, reducing cost and risk. This formal verification by Oracle LMS assures customers that the information on Oracle software deployment and usage produced by iQSonar will be accepted by Oracle as accurate and comprehensive.

Founded in 2002, iQuate is supported by Enterprise Ireland. For further details, see the full press release, with details regarding an upcoming webinar.
