Admit it – we all love competitions, and there’s a great one coming up that rewards innovations from start-up companies in the energy, environment and habitat fields. Why are we featuring it here? I feel that Irish Software companies have important ideas to add to this space.
Organized by Saint-Gobain (a worldwide leader in construction markets offering innovative solutions to the challenges of growth, energy and the environment), the selection of candidates will be based on the strength of their ideas (in both service and product) as well as the synergetic potential with Saint-Gobain activities. This year, for the first time, start-ups globally can participate.

The deadline for submissions is coming up very quickly – October 15th – so you’d best be sharp about applying. The selection of finalists occurs early December, with the final itself taking place at the Saint-Gobain booth at the Trade Fair BAU, Munich, January 18th. Here, the most promising start-ups (up to a dozen) will participate in a ‘speed-dating’ style session. Competition winners will receive prizes to the value of €25,000, as well as an exploratory work session with a team from NOVA External Venturing.
